The Inspiration Blog - Adrian and Marie
May 17, 2022 // News
The idea of Christmas caroling brings to mind jolly bands of churchgoers, dressed in red shawls and top hats, going door-to-door, also known as wassailing —an Old Norse term— to spread the spirit of Christmas through hymns.
I`m recharging at my home base in Horten, after working on a commissioned project for Pepsi. When suddenly Adrian and Marie show up at my doorstep. They start to perform a couple of rehearsed songs, following it up with a freely and informal dance. What a pleasant surprise, I picked up my camera to document this jam session. They start to boost the volume and gradually shift into a strained vocal fry —Reviving the lost tradition of Christmas carols. A sight to behold indeed.
Their determination in life is a constant source of inspiration. I find myself time-and-time again getting astonished and encouraged by their work. This brings me to the topic of the evening. I’d like to dedicate this post to give a short introduction of my two friends above. Then you will hopefully share my deep admiration for them.
Adrian Misfjord is a globetrotter, exploring the most remote corners of Tellus with an abnormal journalistic viewpoint. He put himself in harm's way to capture stories with real substance and meaning. As of most recently, he went to culturally-distinct regions tucked away between the Stalinist architecture and rural environments of the Stan countries—as depicted by his annual pilgrimage to document different ways of living.
When watching his older videos, you may see him hunting with the nomads in Somalia. You might find him celebrating the Kokboru ceremony with the Kyrgyz, or interviewing the director of Wakaliwood in Uganda. Look Again and he`s hitchhiking through Guatemala, accompanied by the locals on an expedition to the heart of an active volcano. It`s the ultimate adventure into a world often overlooked. This lifestyle has made Adrian into a quadrilingual maniac.

Marie Ulven wanders this earth as Girl in Red. She is a world-famous megastar —whose work is so ubiquitous, it`s less like music and more like the air we breathe. Apart from the magazine pages, Marie is a real virtuoso with charisma and she has devoted her life to spread a crucial message. She shares her experiences and encourages others to utilize these tools to foster their own sexuality.
Her new album "If I Could Make It Go Quiet" is filled with poetic brilliance; it`s a fresh breath to the whole music industry. Listening to "Rue" or "Serotonin" for the first time feels like discovering a new genre. Her vocal is aloof yet mesmerized, the effect of this restraint is a feeling of closeness and intimacy. The experimental melody really ties it all together. Just pure catharsis.

Have a wonderful day!
I myself— couldn't have a bad one, even if I tried.
